Last nights win against the Canucks was a big one, to say the least. Although they gave up a point to Vancouver (who are pretty well set up for a playoff spot), the Ducks needed the two points.
Along with the win, the Ducks also saw a few players give a full sixty minute effort and produced, which has been a rarity as of late. The newest Ducks (Nokelainen, Whitney, and Christensen) were involved in two of the four goals. The biggest relief came when Ryan Getzlaf finally put the puck in the net. In the last five games, he's had no goals and 8 shots, also he was a -6. If the Ducks expect to make a push for the playoffs, they'll need to realize the magnitude of each game and bring the desperation they did last night. They'll also need their top players to start playing like they are supposed to.
The Ducks next game will only be on Sunday, when they face the San Jose Sharks at home. They would probably prefer to play them sooner, so that they can build some momentum off last night. Hopefully this break will be used positively and they bring their A-game on Sunday, they'll need it.
