Putting On The Foil

Posted By Kevin Gibson On Mar 31 2009 @ 9:09 pm In Toronto Maple Leafs | No Comments

The Maple Leafs have signed Christian Hanson, son of Dave, nephew of Jack. Hanson just finished his senior year at Notre Dame, where the 6'3 230lb centre had 31Pts in 37 games.

Hanson will play with the Leafs this season, as early as tomorrow, but most likely on Friday or Saturday.

Dave Hanson played for Ron Wilson's dad (Larry) in the CHL back in 77-78 for Kansas City.  Wilson also played in the CHL that season for Dallas which was the Leafs farm team.

People ask why sign Hanson now? It's the end of the NCAA hockey season. You can't sign NCAA players while they are still playing College pucks or else they lose their eligibility to play. It's essentially UFA season for College players as they got down to the Frozen Four this past weekend.
