Pregame (And Delayed Postgame) Blog.

3 Points.  That's all that's needed for the Hurricanes to reach the post-season for the first time since they won the Stanley Cup.  Tonight, it all comes down to containment as two of the hottest teams collide in Carolina where the Hurricanes will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

This is a statement game and in order to win it Ward has got to be at his best.  The Hurricanes D needs to continue thier solid play, and the forwards… well, let's face it.  Everybody has to be good, because we all know that the Pens are going to bring their “A” game.

Scott Cullen over at TSN recently did a cumulative ranking of every NHL teams defense using some sort of mathematical equation that I find intriguing, despite it being over my head.  Regardless, he placed the Hurricanes defense as the Sixth best in the league. I think we can all call that an improvement over the last couple seasons.  Read the whole article here-> http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/scott_cullen/?id=273658

 On Thursdays game:

A very back and forth game where the outcome was constantly in question changed drastically in a period of only 28 seconds. Cam Ward continued to be the best player on the ice, and Chad Larose stepped up in a big way (again) as the Hurricanes brushed off the Rangers 4-2.

What more can be said?  This team is on fire and it seems every single night they go out onto the ice with a bit of swagger and a predisposed notion that they WILL win the game.  This team firmly believes in itself and eachother and will be a very, very strong opponent for whoever they face in the first round. In fact, I would wager to say this team is in fact a strong contender for the title this season.

Live Blog Cancelled

Unfortunately I will be unable to do a Live blog tonight, due to one of several funerals I will be attending (FIVE people I know passed away in one week???).  So I will be posting a post-game blog on Sunday, and hopefully the boys will give me something to cheer about tonight, because it's been hard to find too much to enjoy about life this week.

Until next time, keep on rockin Caniacs.
