Hurricanes meet Devils

For the 4th time since the Hurricanes moved to Raleigh, they will meet the Devils in the postseason with Carolina holding a 2-1 edge in those previous three series.
These two teams are almost identical to one another. Both are fast teams, both are led in scoring by a young, 40 goal scoring center, and both have stud goaltending.
If you think Jersey has the edge on that last point, consider this:
Martin Brodeur- .916 SP, 2.41 GAA
Cam Ward- .916 SP, 2.44 GAA
So what seperates these two teams?
New Jersey has a solid D-core, but not one that puts up very many goals, While Carolina has a very offensively gifted set of D-men. Continued production from the back-end will likely be enough to put the Hurricanes over the Devils.
On New Jersey's side, the Brodeur intimidation factor is null because the Hurricanes always seem to find ways to beat him. So in order to win, their veteran presence has to be huge and their defense has got to be willing to tighten up and grind it out against the Canes speed. If the Devils can't match punch for punch (which I doubt they can) they're going to be left behind.
Will write more when I get back from work. Have a good one Canes fans.
