Loch Ontario Monster? & Team Canada

Toronto is trying to sign Swedish goalie Jonas Gustvasson. The 6'4 goalie is nicknamed the Monster. I wonder if it has something to do with his height? Gustavsson picked up 5 shutouts in 13 playoff games for Farjestad.

The Dallas Stars are apparently also interested. However if The Monster wants to compete for a starting job, Toronto would be his best bet. I can't see the 24 year old Gustavsson competing with Turco next season.

Gustavsson can compete with Toskala right now. Yes Toskala just had surgery, and probably wouldn't be up for the challenege, but it's gut check time, suck it up.

Canada's coaching staff was announced for the World Championships. Lindy Ruff, Barry Trotz and Dave Tippett. Great choices.

Canada is expected to announce the majority of the team today (I'll have details later). They will leave three spots open for players eliminated in the first round.

A goalie (could be Ward or Brodeur since they play each other), a forward and a defencemen will be the vacant spots.

Canada starts their first round action on April 24th vs Belarus. Canada will also play Slovakia and Hungary in round one.

Yes that's right, I said Hungary.
