John Madden Retires/ 2009 Shedule released

Former hall of fame Oakland Raiders coach John Madden has retired from NFL broadcasting.

John Madden has been the face of the NFL for years, whether you remember him as the head coach of the Raiders, or as the multi award winning NFL broadcaster. Madden enjoyed great success in boath fields, and he will be missed.

I would love to go further into this, but I am currently on vacation in Cape Cod, Mass, and my time on the computer is limited.

In other Raiders news, the 2009 NFL schedule has been released.

Here are the games for the Oakland Raiders:

sept 14   vs  SanDiego (monday)

sept 20   @  Kansas City

sept 27   vs  Denver

oct 4      @  Houston

oct 11    @  New York G

oct 18     vs  Philadelphia

oct 25     vs  New York J

nov 1       BYE

nov 15     vs  Kansas City

nov 22     vs  Cincinnati

nov 26     @  Dallas (thursday, thanksgiving)

dec 6      @  Pittsburgh

dec 13     vs  Washington

dec 20     @  Denver

dec 27     @ Cleveland

jan 3        vs  Baltimore

Overall I am happy with this schedule. We have three divisional games to start the season, and that should set the tone for what is to come for the remainder of the year. If we can win at least 2 of the first 3 games, we will be primed to fight for that division title, and start rolling with a high confidence level.

We hit the toughest part of the schedule on Nov 26 for the thursday matchup with the Cowboys. We then go to Pittsburgh, at home against Washington and then on the road again against Denver, and Cleveland.

Like any new season, we do not know who will be good, and who will struggle, so looking to far into this schedule will be pointless. It does however give us something to work with, and look forward to.

I have to go and get some swin time in with the kids, so I must be off.

I am heading to Boston tomorrow to catch a Red Sox game at the famous Fenway Park, so I am very excited for that.

Take care
