Jets Draft Preview- Wide Receivers

A look at some prospects that may end up being selected by the New York Jets
The departure of Laveranues Coles leaves Jerricho Cotchery as the indisputible number one wide receiver for the New York Jets. It also leaves a gaping question as to who will be lining up across from him.
While Chansi Stuckey and David Clowney have shown a bit of promise in limited playing time, the Jets' top brass could decide to fortify the position for the future by selecting a receiver in a draft that is heavy with talent. Here's a look at a few of the prospects they could be targeting:
6'3, 218 lbs….Local product of New Jersey….Great physique and intangibles for a wide receiver….Has improved his route running to above average levels….Very competitive….Tough guy who can make catches across the middle of the field….Has the ability to gain yardage after the catch….Doesn;t have top notch acceleration….Suffers lapses in concentration, leading to dropped balls….Has exhibited a bit of an attitude problem.
University of Maryland
6'2, 210 lbs….Has excellent speed and acceleration….Controls his body well and can make tough catches….Is a true vertical threat….Outstanding work ethic….May be able to return kicks as well….Has great leaping ability….Definitely needs to improve his route running….His strength is average and he may have trouble escaping the jam at the line of scrimmage….Needs to work on moves to make tacklers miss more often.
University of North Carolina
6'1, 212 lbs….Runs the best routes of this draft class….Is aggressive and will fight for the ball….Has the ability to male the difficult catch….Has long arms and uses them effectively to catch high passes….Capable of gaining yards after the catch….Is a player who will sacrifice the body for the good of the team….Is not very explosive and has just average top-end speed….Not a very good run blocker….May need a bit of an attitude adjustment.
