After the dust has cleared from the draft, the Ravens turned their attention to the undrafted free agents (UDFAs) that happened to tumble out of the seven rounds.
As with most teams, the Ravens look for special gems that may pay dividends like their signing of Jameel McClain last year.
Let’s take a brief look at whom the Ravens will be working out during their mini-camps in the coming weeks:
Will Johnson (DE), Michigan: Despite his slow speed, Johnson could add some depth to the defensive end position, with his energy and size (6’4”).
Graham Gano (K), Florida State: Gano is not your typical wide-right disappointment out of FSU. He can put the ball through the uprights from almost any distance with a strong kicking leg. Gano played both place kicker and punter with good accuracy.
Dannell Ellerbe (ILB), Georgia: Ahh, the problem child who couldn’t stay out of trouble long enough to be drafted during the seven rounds. Suspension, DUI’s (charges dropped) and borrowing someone’s car without permission are enough to put a player in the unemployment line, but Ellerbe fits the linebacker prototype with speed and instincts.
Jason Cook (FB), Ole Miss: Probably needs to get on the leg press machine to combat his lack of lower body strength, but has some good blocking arms and hands.
Finding another McCalin is a tall task, but the Ravens have some potential UDFAs that could add some depth to the Ravens roster.
Where's Waldo (as in where is the wide receiver?), Ozzie???
