I will start off by saying with the Manny saga, that no one baseball player being suspended for steroids would surprise me anymore.
I have to think that the scary part is that players are still juicing. I wonder who is next?
Back to the Dodgers, two losses in a row since the Manny suspension, not much of a coincendence hah? If would be okay if they were losses to Johan Santana and Roy Oswalt, but last night's loss was the first of the season against 57mph fastball pitcher Barry Zito. Even the home crowd seems subdued.
Orlando Hudson is 1 for 6 (does have 3 walks) since not being followed by Manny.
What happened to the patience at the plate, they only drew 2 walks off starter Barry Zito through 6 innings. (They did walk two more times that game, but looked to be a case of wildness by SF Giant pitcher Merkin Valdez) Could this be a case of hitters trying to change their approach without the Man in the lineup, probably, at least for now.
The lead has shrunk to 4.5 games (Giants), now I do think that the Dodgers are more talented than the Dodgers with or without Dr. HCG.
The Dodgers must gain some momentum back, and I am guessing it will be a few days as this issue blows over, and yes it will. Chances are good that another MLB player will be suspended before Manny comes back.
The good news is there will be no other team in the MLB that makes a mid-season pick up like the Dodgers with Manny returning in July.
We'll see what happens today as Eric Stults looks for his 4th win of the year at 12:40.
