Southern California was buzzing on Sunday, as the Dodgers and Philies played the 4th and final game of the series at Chavez Ravine while the Lakers played down the 110.
The Dodgers ended up splitting the series in a rematch of last year's NLCS. I do not think that anyone would be surprised if they end up seeing each other again in the playoffs.
Cole Hamels is good, really good, he would probably be the best pitcher of the series between the two teams.
Brad Lidge may not be the closer for the Philles come playoff time.
Andre Ethier is becoming a clutch player, with two walk off hits in the Dodgers two wins, he how has 6 walk offs the last two seasons, most in the majors.
Orlando Hudson's defense is just as important as his “O.” Saved a couple runs in Saturday's game.
Jonathan Broxton will be the closer all season, with 47 K's in 29 innings, and a 1.24 era, he is off to the single greatest season by a closer ever. Better than Gagne's 2003 season, and more natural (cough) too.
The Dodgers have a bright future, between Billingsley, Kershaw, Broxton, Ethier, Loney, Martin, Kemp and Blake Dewitt, the oldest is Ethier at 27 years old, not too bad!
Let's say the Dodgers win the NL West, I assume their rotation in the playoffs looks like this, Kuroda, Billingsley, Kershaw. The question is the rest of the season, will there be a 4th starter to step up for a 4 man rotation in a 7 game series? Namely can you trust Randy Wolf, he is 3-2 with a 3.62 era. He will be auditioning for the spot during the regular season.
I really like watching Shane Victorino play, very underrated.
The Dodger bullpen, besides Broxton, is very good. Corey Wade has been brilliant coming off the DL, Weaver has been good has a starter or coming out of pen, and Belisario not too shaby in his rookie year.
Eric Milton has been placed on the 15 day DL, replacing hims is 3B Blake Dewitt.
The Dodgers now take their 8.5 game lead into a 2 game series with San Diego in LA, Billingsley and Kershaw are scheduled to pitch, the Dodgers will miss Peavy!
