The NHL released the 82 game schedule for the Ottawa Senators today.

Here are a few key dates to circle on your calendar for the coming season if you are a Sens fan.

Sat. Oct. 3rd at NY Rangers – Opening night

Tues. Oct. 6th at Toronto – Could be the beginning of a new Battle of Ontario rivalry with Brian Burke putting his handprints on the Leafs.

Thurs. Oct. 8th vs. NY Islanders – regular season home opener for the Sens against John Tavares and the Isles.  This could also be Dany Heatley's first home game in a Sens uniform if he isn't dealt before the start of the regular season.

Oct. 12th and Nov. 19th the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins come to town.

Sat. Oct. 17th at Montreal – Alexei Kovalev's first game back in Montreal.

Tues. Nov. 10th vs Edmonton – Could this be Dany Heatley's return to Ottawa?  I doubt it, but it is fun to speculate.

Thurs. Nov. 26th vs Columbus – The return of former Senator Antoine Vermette and Pascal LeClaire faces his former team in the Blue Jackets.

Tues. Dec. 8th – Former Sens head coach Jacques Martin returns to Ottawa while Kovalev faces his former team on homeice for the first time.
