Vick to the Broncos?

Sorry to have not been around for the last while folks but I am back again….and what better topic.  Mike Vick.  I will first let you know about how little I have liked Mike Vick since he began playing in the NFL.  Vick was always and overrated bum in my eyes and I never seen him as anything more than a guy who could run around with the football.  WR, RB, anything but a QB.

Well as if the off-season hasn't been poor enough we now have whispers of Vick coming to Denver.  Why?  Do you really think he will put up better numbers than Orton or Simms?  This guy hasn't played football at all in a long long time.  Let's not even talk about whether or not we think it is right or wrong for him to get another shot, let's just focus on the football.

3 Years 33 games for Orton

Cmp % – 55.3
Yards – 5319
TD – 30
INT – 27
Rush – 92
Rush TD – 3

Vick 6 years 74 games

Cmp% 53.8
Yards 11505
TD – 71
INT – 52
Rush – 3859
Rush TD – 21

So after looking at those numbers due to Vick's rushing stats I am sure we all would select Vick as our qb if those trends continued.  You could also argue that Orton is likely to put up better numbers in his next 3 seasons to push him over the top as a passer which they are pretty even at right now.  My biggest question is does Vick still have the ability to run like he did previously after not playing for so long, also he is getting older, do you really want to run the risk and PR mess it will take to get this guy on your club for a qb who could get smoked and be done for the year on almost every play?  I personally wouldn't roll the dice just on football reasons alone.  I personally don't think he will still be able to run like he did before, that and I like Orton as a passer over Vick.

Now that being said.  I am the proud owner of 2 wonderful dogs Lindy and Hossa (named after Lindros and I will let you guess the second one)…..If Mike Vick plays for the Denver Broncos I will be finding a new favorite team.  I am not sure I can add much more to my thoughts.  I do realize people deserve a second chance and I totally agree with that.  That said if I do the things he did I don't go back to my job and nor does 99% of this world.  Mike Vick can have a second chance on life and being a good person and all that fun stuff but I wouldn't be upset to see him have to sell insurance, or sell cars, or work a blue collar job like the rest of us….I hope NFL owners make an example of this guy.  If I was an owner I would say if you want to play in this league you need to act like a pro or you are done.  You are not just a football player, you are a role model for many young children across the globe.  These players are blessed with the job of being a NFL player and they go and piss it away on stupid things.  Set an example fellas and perhaps this trend will end.  My point is a second chance doesn't have to be a second chance in the NFL.  Mike Vick can have a second chance to be a good person, and have a great life, and be a role model, but he should have to sweat it out like the rest of us would.  Go back to school, get a job, and work your arse off.

Just my 2 cents.  You can reach me at sandygemmiti@sportstalkbuzz with any thought or comments…….and don't even get me started on Brandon Marshall

and all the blame it on Vick's receivers thing I won't buy or you better sell it to Orton as well….Kyle didn't have much to work with in Chicago…

All you have to do is watch Alge Crumpler drop ball after ball bud… It's clear as day! I'm not saying the receivers weren't there, but they sure didn't help his passing stats. Orton is nowhere near as good a deep passer as Vick, but he's far better in the 10-15 yard range than Vick is. It's almost a wash statistically. The difference is Vick can run. Or, at least he could…lol…I'm not trying to make you like Vick or anything, but he'd be an interesting addition to the Broncos, whether you opt to cheer for them or not…

yes and Orton had plenty of drops as well in Chicago…..I always have said this when it comes to Vick and that is you don't need your QB to run around…play QB that is all I ask of my QB….take a look at the most recent Superbowl winners Ben, Brady, Manning…real talented runners lol. Leave the running to the running backs. What has Mike Vick ever done in this league besides run around that make him worth the risk?

See, I think running around is a good way to avoid the pass rush, which Vick excelled at. He broke 1000 yards running from the QB position!!! I'd say he's well worth the risk, if only to use him as an RB…

he would get killed playing RB. Mike Vick last time I checked was just a QB who ran around during the regular season and got beat out every year in the playoffs early. He got coach Mora fired and acted like a fool giving fans the finger etc. on the field. Not worth the risk for what he brings to the table. We just drafted a RB to play the position. And again the question I raise in my blog is can Mike Vick even still run around like that?? dude hasn't played football in a serious amount of time plus added age.Go sign in Oakland where you belong

Holy negativity! What do you think people do in jail? They work out. He probably also had to run away from some other inmates who may have wanted to pork him…lol…Oakland? Sure, he'd be a good fit there. I totally understand you don't want him in Denver, but I can see at least 3 other teams who could use Vick. Let's face it, it would be on a tryout basis at first, but I can't see him having lost his talents just because he didn't play for a pair of seasons…

Now why must everyone beat on my Raiders so often? We don't need Vick, nor want him, and thats not to say that Russell is going to be the answer in Oakland, but he deserves his shot.Vick would actually be a nice addition to the Broncos. He and Marshall can end the season early, after not making the playoffs, and start a reality show called “Dog days of summer”, where they can get arrested and shot what its like to be in jail.I would watch it.Then maybe we can watch McDaniels trade away Royal, Bailey, Morreno, and anyone else who may play well.I have to admit that I love the fact that the Broncos are this years version of the Raiders of last year.Cheers!!!
