Edmonton finally says no to Heatley!!

Finally the Edmonton Oilers have said no to any possible deal that would involve disgruntled Sens winger Dany Heatley.

Update at 11:25pm EST – After talking to several key sources today I am told that the SJ Sharks are trying to force Patrick Marleau into waiving his no-trade clause by telling his agent they are looking to move him to the second line and promoting Jonathon Cheechoo to the first line in hopes he finds his scoring touch again by playing on a consistent basis with a top line center in Joe Thornton. The Montreal Canadiens are very interested in Marleau, while the Boston Bruins are looking to move Phil Kessel to the Sharks. What does all of this mean for the Senators? Well if Sens GM Bryan Murray doesn't hurry up on getting a deal done with SJ, he might have no dance partner left at all and be forced to bring Heatley to training camp. Murray is very high on Milan Michalek and doesn't want Cheechoo in any deal. Murray is willing to take Christian Ehrhoff but only if Michalek is included in the deal along with one of the Sharks top prospects…..one of 2 former Ottawa 67's Jamie McGinn or Logan Couture. It only took them a month to do so but better late than never as they saying goes.  After talking to several sources throughout the day while being on the road, I was able to confirm that the Oilers no longer have any interest in Heatley.

Other quick hits in Sens land, the recent signing of Jeremy Yablonski to a 2 way comes as no surprise. The Sens tore up his 2 year AHL deal that he signed last year and after Yablonski stated on his Facebook that he plans on being in Ottawa when the season starts, it makes you wonder if Neil is going to have to drop the gloves with the MMA specialist. The folks in Binghamton feel that if Yablonski was to get called up to Ottawa at some point that he wouldn't clear re-entry waivers. Did Murray tear up the AHL deal for Yabo(his knickname in Bingo)trying to match the kind of toughness that Bryan Burke is putting together in Toronto? The Battle of Ontario just might have some more substance once again. As well, no surprise that Brent Flahr left his management post in Ottawa for the Minnesota Wild. Flahr is very good friends with new Wild GM Chuck Fletcher. Flahr was rumoured to take over Tim Murray's duties.

I have been told by numerous people that he will be demoted and will no longer be the Binghamton Senators GM.

I will post an update shortly with some more info on the Sharks rumours.  Back by midnight.
