There's a Sports Illustrated Superstition that being on the cover is the “kiss of death.” According to Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post, Jason Campbell will appear on this months' SI cover, with the text “Jason Campbell must step up or step aside for the Redskins.”
Yes, I admit, he wasn't that great last year, but neither was the rest of the offense. Jason had to work through all the rumours of trade deals this offseason, yet still step up and try and lead this team throughout the offseason and training camp. The pressure would be enough for any other QB, but now the “honour” of gracing the cover of SI before the regular season starts is enough to crack anyone.
If Jim Zorn is keeping to his word that Campbell is his guy, the whole Redskin team, coaches and fans need to stand behind him and break this SI curse. There is a lot of talent on this team and to have Campbell finally break out and hit the numbers that he is so capable of hitting (not that he's healthy and has a coach behind him) would be just the thing to stop this superstition in its track.

I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s). My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher. Hail to the Redskins! See you October 30th in my home town of Toronto.
