LB Brian Cushing has sprained his left knee.
Rookie linebacker Brian Cushing sprained his left knee and will miss Saturday’s preseason opener against Kansas City.
According to the Texans website, Head Coach Gary Kubiak thinks Cushing will not be ready for the game against the Saints on August 22nd either.
Cushing had been practicing at strong side linebacker with the first team defense until his injury. He says the injury was a result of the normal wear and tear of camp. To keep his mental game sharp he has attended every practice and meeting since the injury. He doesn’t think the injury will be much of a setback and actually said it is “no big deal.”
He said, “I don't see myself missing too much time. I'm getting to where I need to be, I'm happy about the progress I've made and I'm understanding the defense a lot better.”
LB Zac Diles has moved over from the weak side to fill in for Cushing. Diles was the team’s starter at strong side last season and was leading the team in tackles until he suffered a season-ending leg injury.
Xavier Adibi is the starter on the weak side and Pro-Bowler Demeco Ryans will hold down the middle.
