Drama hits the Niners recieving core

There have been quite the trouble in the 49ers recieiving core from the past two weeks. First, the 49ers lose wide reciever Brandon Jones to injury that will sideline him for 8-12 weeks and the team is still struggling to sign first round draft pick Michael Crabtree. All this is creating uneeded distractions

The San Francisco 49ers have hit a bump as they prepare to enter their first preseason game. It looks like 2009 tenth overall pick, Michael Crabtree will not be playing as well as new wide out Brandon Jones. However, both are completley different situations. Jones would have loved to be playing as he is under contract, while Crabtree is not.

Michael Crabtree and his agent have been holding quite a stubborn holdout as they feel he should be getting paid more money then the 49ers were offering. After Al Davis of the Raiders overpaid wide reciever Darrius Heyward-Bey a guerenteed $23.5 million, Crabtree felt he was the best reciever in the draft, therefore the 49ers should top the money that Heyward-Bey is recieiving. His advisor, who is also his cousin also threatened that Crabtree would sit out the entire 2009 season and re-enter the draft in 2010. It seemed they were prepared to do so, however Crabtree just isn't the type of player to miss out of football for a year. San Francisco is still optimisic about signing Crabtree by late August/September before the regular season. It is crazy how the hype for this player may all be in vain just because he will not play. We will have to see how the deal swings on that half

On the other side of things, Brandon Jones, who just got into being a dedicated member to the organization will miss at least two months of football with a fracture in his right shoulder. It is a true shame to see Jones go down at this point. Singletary hopes Jones can return and make in impact in November, where hopefully the 49ers will be fighting for the division title The city has been optimistic about winning the NFC West this season but the 49ers troubles in the recieiving core could have some minor setbacks
