The NHL is going to make an announcement on August 17th concerning the 2010 Winter Classic that is being held at Fenway Park. Those fans awaiting the opportunity for the chance to buy tickets will find out just how much it will cost to sit in the Monster seats and the rest of Fenway on a (hopefully) cold, clear day in January. Fans can go to nhl.com/winterclassic after noontime on Monday for the details.
The 2009 Classic at Wrigley Field hosted 41,818 of Chicago's closest friends. With Fenway's capacity being smaller than that, my guess is ticket prices for a good seat will be in the $250-$300 range. Based on the mock rink set up at Fenway last month, the seats to get will be the Monster seats in left field or the Upper Roof Box Seats along the first and third base lines.
All Bruins season ticket holders holding full season-ticket packages have been guaranteed the right to purchase tickets to the Jan. 1 game, which will begin at 1 p.m.
