The 49ers named Shaun Hill the starting quarterback on Monday morning. Just two days later at practice on Wednesday, the injury is a concern on Hill's lowerback. Shaun's status has yet to be determined for the 49ers upcoming preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys
The position battle for the 49ers quarterback spot is over, Coach Mike Singletary has confirmed that Shaun Hill, who was favored from the beginning of camp will be the starting quraterback for San Francisco. Hill didn't really get much action thus far in the preseason but I guess the team has seen enough of Hill to determine he is the best out of himself, Alex Smith and Damon Huard.
Just days after Hill was named the 49ers starter, he suffered a lower back injury. Coach Singletary has not disclosed Hill's status for the game against the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, August 28th. It is likely they will sit Hill, due to they don't want to agrivate the stress in his back more. Hill has already shown he had the tools to be the starter on the team out of the trio that was battling it out. I think it would be smart to sit him out and just have him play in the final game if he is 100%. You still have Smith and Huard, who have both had good pre-season's of their own and have shown they can hold their own.
