'Boys fall to San Francisco amid stadium controversy
O.k., did I get anyone to bite on the heading? It seems these days the talk out of Dallas is the new video board and what is going to happen if and when a ball hits it during the regular season games. Any insight into this will be appreciated. NFL commissioner Goddell has said the NFL is going to leave the video board as is for this NFL season and will address if the video board must be raised over the off-season. As a note the NFL did approve the board and where it currently sits.
O.k., now onto this past Saturday’s game where the Dallas Cowboys hosted the San Francisco 49ers. This was the last pre-season game at new Cowboy stadium until they play their first home regular season game at their new stadium.
The Dallas Cowboys lost this past Saturday 20-13. If you were to not look at the score and just the stats this game was very close in all categories. Of course any blogger/football/sports fan would take wins over stats any day but we will chalk it up to a pre-season game and the Cowboys still addressing starters and getting used to each other. I know you are all going to say that is just an excuse but it may be a good excuse for those that want to comment.
The Cowboys out ran the 49ers, the Cowboys out passed the 49ers but a loss is still a loss and there is more to football then running and passing for those that want to comment on where the 49ers won the ball game.
Dallas showed a lot of praise in the discipline department by committing 8 penalties for 78 yards which is 5 fewer penalties than their last game and 35 yards better so can only hope as the Cowboys continue to prepare for the regular season they can keep the penalties and yards dropping in numbers.
One thing Dallas is looking forward to this season is a huge running game. This will be led by Marion Barber III and Felix Jones who will share most of the running plays. Both players are healthy and should complement each other behind Dallas quarterback Tony Romo who this season hopes to focus on football and not his off the field distractions that most spent most of last season talking about instead of football.
Dallas was with wide receiver Roy Williams (shoulder). Williams is looking to replace ‘I now play for the Buffalo Bills, Terrell Owens’ in the ‘go deep’ category this season as Dallas hopes to have a balanced passing game this year, the Cowboys will keep the ball on the ground as much as possible in winning games this season.
Dallas is 1-2 so far this pre-season and that is exactly why we call it pre-season. Your record does not matter and comment to me after week-3-4-5 if you like if the Cowboys are losing games.
Dallas heads to Minnesota to play the ‘Brett Favre’ Vikings this Friday September 4 at 2000 before heading to Tampa to open up the season against the Buccaneers on Sunday September 13. Come back for more pre-season blogs and of course the opening game blog which I promise to be worth reading.
As always, ‘comments, questions, concerns’ ‘Go Cowboys’
