Gang Green “walks the walk” as they shut down Brady and Co. for first home win
Kerry Rhodes, Rex Ryan spouted a lot of trash talk earlier this week. On Sunday, they proved, along with the rest of Gang Green, that they were, indeed, men of their word.
New York beat New England for just the second time in the last 12 tries on Sunday, 16-9. Rookie Mark Sanchez passed to tight end Dustin Keller for the game's only touchdown.
Ryan's new defense held Tom Brady to just 214 yards and, while they didn't sack him as promised, Darrelle Revis did pick him off. Revis also blanketed all-pro wide receiver Randy Moss all day, allowing him only four catches for 24 yards.
The offense wasn't left out, either. Sanchez looked good for the second straight week, avaoiding the rush and showing poise. Running backs Leon Washington and Thomas Jones combined for 112 yar5ds on the ground and Jerricho Cotchery hauled in four catches for 87 yards.
The Jets will try to remain undefeated next week against the Tennessee Titans. Jeff Fisher's squad will present a new series of obstacles to overcome…namely keeping tabs on fleet-footed running back Chris Johnson.
Enjoy the victory, Jets fans, but keep it in perspective: No one wins anything during Week Two
