Well now, this is an interesting turn of events. The 49ers improved their record to 2-0 on Sunday and the best part is they are 2-0 against their division. Is this just another fluke or is San Francisco for real this season? Gore leads the Niners to a 23-10 win over the Seahawks.
After being shut down by the Cardinals rush defense last week, 49ers runningback Frank Gore would not be denied a second consecutive week. Gore opened up the scoring of the game in dramatic fashion with a 79 yard touchdown game, which followed a Joe Nedney field goal for a 10-0 first quarter lead. You can tell Gore was absolutely disgusted after last week and was seeking a big time vengeance this week. Everything was going well for the 49ers until the Seahawks sparked some life. Matt Hasselbeck scrambled and dove for the goaline and was stopped at the one. The bad thing is, he was taken off the field with a broken rib. Julius Jones capt the 70 yard drive off with a one yard touchdown plunge to cut the 49ers lead to 10-13. Shaun Hill was solid all game, he had a good first half. Hill didn't do anything really special, but on this day he didn't have to where Frank Gore rushed for 207 yards.
Gore eventually broke out for an 80 yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to give the 49ers defense enough comfort to close out the game. Frank looked absolutely incredible out there. I am watching the game here in Philly on the computer and I am thinking to myself “This is the Gore we all know, this is the pro-bowl runningback who will lead this team to the playoffs,” Now the Seahawks aren't a strong team but every divisional game is crucial. The 49ers walked in and took care of business at home. Maybe this will spark Michael Crabtree to signing now that he sees this is a potential playoff team if they can keep on this hot streak. The good thing is Hill is spreading the ball around, but he hasn't found a security wide receiver quite yet. Either way, at the end of the day the 49ers were victors over Seattle 23-10.
