Giants Earn TKO in Dallas Slugfest

Rejoice o ye Giants fans.  No, seriously, rejoice.  Don't let that Cowboys fan you work with talk to you about luck.  Or about Tony Romo having a bad game.  Or balls bouncing off players feet for flukey interceptions, or any of that.  A slugfest like Sunday's 33-31, last-man-standing victory vs. the Cowboys requires resiliency and determination.  It's incredibly valuable for the Giants long term plans for them to win a wide open, wild west shootout on a huge stage (literally).

Brandon Jacobs did not run the ball down the Cowboys collective throat.  The Giants did not control the clock.   Nor did Big Blue's vaunted defensive line control the point of attack against the Dallas offense.  The things that the Giants supposedly needed to do to win?  They didn't do them.  Instead, the G-Men capitalized on big turnovers on defense and a calm, capable Eli Manning in the passing game.

That personality shift gives the Giants more of a big play, quick strike capability than we're used to seeing.  Which is great.  Because the clock control, grind-it-out type of Giants teams didn't have the ability to come back in games.  And Sunday night's Giants team has the personality of a squad that's never out of a game.

That Mario Manningham has a little shake and bake in the passing game for sure.  Big plays with Mario could be important because Manning and Co. are still noticeably gun shy in the red zone without Plaxico (who, ironically, should have been more gun shy himself).  In one especially ugly first quarter moment, Domenick Hixon had to turn defender on a grossly telegraphed toss from Eli to prevent a pick-six the other way.  The Giants need to get over the no Plax thing and figure out a way to go around if they can no longer dunk it over the top like they could with Burress.
