Oh Hai, Green Bay

But First, That is Why You Deal With Brett Favre
For all his tears and pillow biting, Brett Favre is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. While sitting at the bar of San Francisco International Airport, a bunch of rabidly drunk 49er's fans (and one bitter Packers fan) screamed at the television sets while Favre cooly led the Vikings down the field against their incredibly resourceful and tough team, I couldn't help but think back to all the prognosticators, bitchers, whiners, pissers, and moaners, who got all up in arms over Favre being arrogant enough to want to actually pick the team he would play for on his terms. When he threw the game winning pass, it was pretty awesome to see these retards just deflate into silent eunuchs who left their half-full bars at the bar and wandered off into the terminal shaking their heads and muttering to one another, “I hate Brett Favre.”
That's why you get Brett Favre, even if it's for only one or two seasons because while he will not have that sort of performance every game, when things get deep and Adrian Peterson is not dominating like you hope, you have that old fart back there who can probably pull about one or two big drives per game out of his back pocket when you need them. Against the Niners, Peterson did not get the sort of holes he was looking for. He had a few electrifying runs, but none seemed like they were longer that 11 yards. If nothing else, the Niners acted out the game plan most folks have been speculating on with the Vikings: Hold Peterson down and force Favre to try and win the game.
Well, we saw how that worked out, didn't we?
Frankly, most of my questions regarding this team have been put to rest. They will blow at least two games they should win and and get raked in one more this year with tough match ups ahead against Chicago, Green Bay, Baltimore, and the Giants, but they have all the makings of a 13 win club capable of a Super Bowl run, especially if they get home field advantage. The offensive line has gelled, Favre has built a decent rapport with his receivers, Percy Harvin is for real, Peterson is the most dangerous and best back in football, and the defense is opportunistic and tough. Unless they shart the bed, they win the division outright.
This Monday should be fun, though. Green Bay comes to town and while everyone is going totally apeshit over this game because it's Favre's chance to show them what they are missing, it should be about nothing more than supremacy in the division. The Vikings will win this game because they are the better club. Right now, all things being equal, Rodgers is the better all-around quarterback. He's resilient, resourceful, talented, gifted, and has a superb all-around game to go along with his total command of the offense. However, the Vikings are playing at home, have Adrian Peterson, a superior defense, and are incredibly dangerous on special teams. Forget that blocked field goal, that stuff is flukey.
Take the Vikings and get used to it because a lot more people will be saying it as the year moves on.
