A breakdown of the important Jets-Dolphins battle this Sunday
Monday October 12
Land Shark Stadium, Miami, FL
Keys to victory:
1. Get Edwards involved heavily- While it's true that Braylon Edwards just arrived in town, the Jets will need him to play a major role on this game as it appears that Jericho Cotchery will either miss the contest outright or be seriously limited. Brad Smith is not a good enough receiver to carry a major load.
2. Use Greene to soften the D- Coach Rex Ryan obviously has a lot of confidence in rookie Shonn Green after last week and they should use his large frame to pound the formidible Dolphins' front seven. Even if he doesn't gain a ton of yardage, he can at least wear them down for the fast Leon Washington to take over later in the game.
1. Constantly blitz Henne- The Dolphins are not going to put a major burden on quarterback Chad Henne in his second pro game, but there are going to be times when he'll just have to throw. Expect Ryan to send a large variety of exotic blitzes towards him in the hopes of creating some turnovers.
2. Ground and Pound Brown- Even though Ricky Williams will be toting the ball occasionally, the Dolphins are going to rely on Ronnie Brown to do most of the heavy lifting for them in this game. The Jets need NT Kris Jenkins shutting off the interior and LB David Harris patrolling the perimeter in order to contain him.
News and Notes: The Jets will get back LB Calvin Pace for this game. Pace has been serving a four game suspension for violating the NFL's Substance Abuse policy.
Jets 17, Dolphins 10
