Falcons dominate 49ers, hand Hill first loss a Candlestick Park

A much anticamated matchup that would challenge the 49ers to see if they can keep up with the NFL elites couldn't have turned out any worse. The 49ers got destroyed 45-10 and Dre Bly embarressed himself and the team as he celebrated midway through his interception, got tackled and fumbled the ball back over to the Falcons. Nothing went right for the 49ers on this day at all.

Sunday the 49ers played their worst game of the season as they only managed to put up 10 points on the board and their defense was thrashed as the team lost by 35 points. Roddy White proved to be the 49er killer as he had a big day, which included a 90 yard touchdown. It seemed no matter what defensive formation the 49ers had, White was all over the place and Matt Ryan is too good to be left with time in the pocket. He made the 49ers pay as the team as handed a humiliating loss at home. This isn't exactly the message the team was looking for to make a statement as a potential divison winner.

The sad thing was, 49ers QB Shaun Hill led the team in rushing with 53 yards on 4 carries. Hill didn't have a stellar game but he wasn't exactly awful either. You can tell he wasn't exactly on pace with his recievers and Crabtree will be a blessing when he arrives after the teams bye week and when Gore returns, the offense will be back in full form. Michael Turner of the Falcons torched the team for three touchdowns and man I got to say this guy is a legit starting runningback after being so underlooked backing up Tolminson in San Diego all those years. One of the three 49ers turnovers was a very unprofessional move on 49ers cornerback Dre Bly. The team was already down big at that point and he picked off a Matt Ryan pass and he was only around the 50 yard line, slowed down and gloated. He payed for this and got tackled, lost the football and got an earful from coach Singletary I am sure. I don't see why a professional athlete would do something like that not just considering the score, but what if it was a close game and that would have given the Falcons new life? I just don't understand it.

All in all, the Falcons just proved to be too much and made the 49ers look like a mediocre team they have been years past. However, I do not think the 49ers will fall down from this. Atlanta is a very good team and this could act as a good wake up call. The defense had its first real bad showing of the season and the team showed it really misses Frank Gore. Rookie runningback Glenn Coffee isn't ready to carry the whole load, at least not yet. We will see how the team responds from here as they lose big to the Falcons 45-10.
