No one Goes Undefeated

It Was Bound to Happen

One thing to take away from losing in Pittsburgh is that Favre's costly turnovers were not the result of him carelessly playing a little pitch and catch and acting like a kid out there. On the drive where he fumbled the Vikings should have already been in the end zone but the refs called two holding penalties on plays where there were no holds, so yeah, Pittsburgh took advantage of some extra chances when they should have been down. On the interception, he tossed a screen that was just over his receiver's head, but it was catchable. So, yes, Pittsburgh's defense scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but they were sort of flukey and if the two teams played again at a neutral site where the refs were not openly rooting for the Steelers, the Vikings would win by six because even without Atoine Winfield, the Vikes were able to keep a collar on the Steelers offense and keep Ben Roethlisberger from having a signature game. Color me unimpressed with Pittsburgh and just disappointed in the Vikings.

Anyways, the Vikings have some issues to deal with. They need to find a way to get Adrian Peterson loose. Teams have spent the last four weeks keying on him and forcing Favre to win or lose games for them. Considering that he's 40, has a lot of mileage on his arm, and has been taking a lot of hits in the pocket, it's imperative that the Vikings find a way to put more of an emphasis on the running game lest they risk Favre burning himself out in week 12. This are serious business, because if Favre goes down, we will see Tavalicious Jackson or Serge Roseypalms in the pocket and that will seriously retard the incredible progress that Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin have experienced so far this year.

Beyond that, bring on the Packers. I seriously doubt that the live scrimmages they just had against Cleveland and Detroit will have them ready for the living hell Favre and company will unleash upon them next week.
