Browns need to go back to Quinn

Another week, another blowout! It's time for the Browns to make a change because Derrick Anderson has not been the answer.

The Browns got thumped 31-3 by the Packers on Sunday.  After a fairly efficient first drive, everything that could go wrong for the Browns, did.  They did nothing well.  Tackling, running or passing the ball, protecting the ball, etc.  You name it – the Browns did it poorly.

The Browns are toast. There is no quick fix or elixir for the pain. That being said there is one move the Browns need to make in the wake of this latest defeat. Brady Quinn needs to be under center again next week.

I don't think anyone really questioned that DA deserved a chance after Quinn started the season so poorly, but 4 defeats later and it's clear that DA isn't the answer. I understand that Quinn had monetary escalators in his contract if he played 70% of the snaps – but that train has passed now and the Browns need to see if Quinn has anything left in the tank.  They have to at least try to rehabilitate his trade value to bring something back at next years draft if they decide he isn't the QB they like going forward.

As for Anderson, I still believe he can be a sucessful QB in this league – just not for a team with as low a talent level as the Browns possess right now.  He lacks touch on his passes – which has led to drops galore from a young and inexperienced WR corps.

The defense has a horrible week.  Leading tackler LB D'Qwell Jackson was placed on IR, a huge blow for a struggling D.  CB Eric Wright flipped his Mercedes 3 times, narrowly escaping serious injury.  Then the flu bug swept through the team affecting 12 players this week.

Again – there are no quick fixes for this team.  While some out there are already calling for Mangini to be fired, I still think we need to give the guy one more year, one more draft to show that he has a plan that will work.  But when your team is struggling like it is, looking worse and worse every week, a switch at the top of the roster is warranted.

Brady Quinn should be back behind center next week.  After all, we've got nothing to lose but another game.
