Dallas-aka the Miles Austin show

O.K Dallas Nation, who was nervous after the Atlanta Falcons drove down the field in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead over the hometown Dallas Cowboys?. I will admit I was. Atlanta commanded that first quarter until….I say until as Dallas woke up for the remaining 3 quarters and beat a good Atlanta squad 37-21 to go to 4-2 on the season.
Where do I start? The Cowboys showed true grit in the game and I will give kudos to Dallas quarterback Tony Romo as Romo took charge of this game by staying in the pocket, leaving the pocket and making plays and I mean making plays. Romo ended up rushing for 31 yards in the game and most of those 31 yards were for ‘Dallas first down’. Romo ended the day with just under the QB ‘mark’ of 300 passing yards but most of us in Dallas Nation will take the ‘WIN’ over stats, agree? disagree?. I am happy that Romo seems to have found a favourite target in wide receiver Miles Austin as they seem to be on the same page. What upsets me is the Cowboys gave a lot to get what they hope is a prime wide receiver in the NFL, Roy Williams and so far this season Romo and Williams do not seem to be on that same page. Romo did find 8 different receivers yesterday which is a nice stat as far as seeing the whole field.
The Dallas running game was o.k. yesterday but not what I and others expected of the Dallas running game before this season started. If you can’t run the ball, throw it and let’s just hope when the Cowboys can’t throw the ball that the running game is running on all cylinders. It was nice to see all-purpose Felix Jones back in the line-up although he did fumble the ball once.
The Dallas defence was o.k. and has more work to do but at the midway point they are starting to play a little better. Dallas did manage four sacks against Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan (his first sacks of his season). Kudos to Dallas cornerback Mike Jenkins who had a key INT and played a solid game at CB. Dallas had a lot of penalties and if not for the offence moving the ball this game very well could it have gone Atlanta’s way.
I will take the win and chalk it up as an all TEAM effort but there is still work to do in Dallas Nation but on the good side they are showing signs of past Dallas teams by putting points on the board but then again there is always room for improvement.
'Til later in the week, later. Comments, questions……..
