My first NBA Power Rankings of the Year, enjoy.
1. Boston Celtics (6-0)
They haven't had a big challenge so far, but they're still 6-0. Defensively they're as sharp as anyone, could be this teams last shot at another title.
2. Denver Nuggets (5-0)
Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups playing out of their minds so far this season. Going to need contributions from their bench eventually.
3. Orlando Magic (4-1)
They've been a machine, impressive roster, five players averaging double figures. Don't have to rely on a steady starting line-up, very versatle and scary team.
4. Dallas Mavericks (3-2)
Dirk's been huge early, Mavs hope he can keep it up. Another Western Conference power house that's year of contention with it's current line-up are almost up.
5. Los Angeles Lakers (4-1)
Defending champs poised for another run. Yet another team that will eventually need some contribution from their bench.
6. Houston Rockets (3-2)
Strong starters and a deep bench, doing it all with out Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming.
7. Atlanta Hawks (4-1)
Another fun team to watch in the East. They'll contend in the tough Southeast Division which doesn't seem to have a really week team, yet.
8. San Antonio Spurs (2-1)
Another strong team in the West. Addition of Richard Jefferson has been over looked by some, but won't be for long.
9. Phoenix Suns (4-1)
Sounds like a broken record but another great strong team in the West. Good mix of young players and established vets.
10. Miami Heat (4-1)
Could certainly provide a challenge for one of the beasts of the East in the 1st round of the playoffs.
11. Philadelphia 76ers (2-2)
Still learning Eddie Jordan's new offense, however have the talent to be an average team in the East.
12. Oklahoma City Thunder (2-2)
A athletic, young and exciting team. They'll wear down eventually, but something to build on.
13. Toronto Raptors (2-2)
Good team, though, early defensive struggles will have to be worked out.
14. Portland Trailblazers (2-3)
Need to figure out who their PG is before they can begin to contend in the tough West. Could find themselves on the outside looking in.
15. Cleveland Cavaliers (3-2)
Roster loaded with talent, slow start, they all need to get on the same page. They'll eventually be towards the top of the list.
16. Charlotte Bobcats (2-2)
Another team with a great mix of young talent and experienced vets. They won't be an easy win, but they won't contend in the East.
17. Washington Wizards (2-3)
Arenas and Butler playing well, who knows what could happen? Bench could become a problem, especially when injuries inevidable happen.
18. Chicago Bulls (2-2)
Tough early schedule could hurt their chances. How they come out of the first month of the season will tell us a lot.
19. Detroit Pistons (2-3)
Once the new pieces get acclimated, they will, like Cleveland, find themselves near the top of this list.
20. Utah Jazz (1-3)
Another good team with bench issues, tough start hasn't helped them.
21. New Orleans Hornets (2-3)
It's a shame a guy like Chris Paul is stuck here while a guy like Rondo is making big bucks and winning rings ain't it?
22. Milwaukee Bucks (1-2)
Some young exciting talent, but that's about it.
23. Sacramento Kings (1-4)
Look on the bright side Kings fans, Tyreke Evans will win Rookie of the Year.
24. Indiana Pacers (1-3)
Simply don't have the roster to compete, still.
25. Memphis Grizzlies (1-4)
Signing of A.I was a mistake, and they're feeling that already. They wouldn't win more games now without him, but having him now may hurt the future.
26. Minnesota Timberwolves (1-4)
Some young talent, but no experience equals not many wins.
27. Los Angeles Clippers (1-3)
What can I say, they're the Clippers.
28. Golden State Warriors (1-2)
Stephen Curry will be fun to watch. And you can also look forward to trading Steven Jackson.
29. New York Knicks (1-4)
Tanking yet another season.
30. New Jersey Nets (0-5)
Following their future neighbors lead.
