One of the oldest rivalries in professional sports has the 3-6 Washington Redskins heading to new Dallas stadium to play the 6-3, first place in the NFC East Dallas Cowboys. This will be the 0-4 on the road Redskins first visit to new Cowboy stadium where the Cowboys are 3-1.
Dallas is first in the NFC East but don’t worry all you Cowboy haters, I am not going to gloat on that comment as the NFC East is always a tough division and no way the Philadelphia Eagles and NY football Giants are going to lie down for the Cowboys and give them the decision. Both the Eagles and Giants are one game back of the Cowboys. Washington sits in last place in the NFC East at 3-6.
There is never an easy game between these two storied teams. Especially since the Cowboys lost in Green Bay last week and the Redskins won last week in Washington.
What it really comes down to in the NFL is the key word of the day ‘executing’, something that if the Cowboys do well will show for many games to come. Run, pass, defense, offence, special teams, turn-over’s, hold onto the ball, time of possession. These can all come under my new NFL definition of execute. Sound good people? Let me know if you have any additions or even deletions to my new definition. At times this year the Cowboys have shown everything from fully executing the plan to totally diminishing it so Sunday’s game should be all that more exciting as to how well the Cowboys execute the game plan and hopefully for Cowboy Nation go 7-3 and hold onto first place in the NFC East.
Trying to stop the Cowboys from going 7-3 is a top-rated Washington pass defense. Washington already has surpassed their sack total of last year so the Dallas offensive line will be tested and tested often I am sure. This game is going to be won in the trenches.
–7 out of the last 10 games between these two teams have been won by 5 points or less.
–Doug Free will start at right tackle and I am sure get tested well he replaces Mark Colombo
–Cowboys lead the all time series between these two teams 57-39-2
–Washington running back Clinton Portis is a ????? but if cannot play look for Ladell Betts to replace him and Betts has certainly picked up the slack when Portis has not been able to play putting up some big numbers.
As always, comments, questions, concerns and now definitions, bring it on Dallas Nation and or those of you who do not root for the ‘first down
p.s—-look for a read on the Washington blogger, she apparently is a huge Redskin fan so should be some interesting comments back and forth….probably worth the read….enjoy the game on Sunday folks.
