This Ottawa Senators team should play with a chip on their shoulder more often after tonight's 2-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
With the Sens down 5 players to injury, they played the smartest team game of the season. If not for Ryan Miller, the Sabres never would have been in this game. Ottawa's dominance over Buffalo continues year in and out.
Brian Elliott was outstanding in goal while numerous role players elevated their level of play for the Sens. Jesse Winchester and Peter Regin had exceptional games, while Alexandre Picard had his strongest game of the season.
Jarku Ruutu was very disappointing tonight. Besides his 5 minute major penalty, which was clearly a dumb move, his 2 minor penalties were the type of penalties Ruutu usually causes the opposition to take on him. He was very undiscplined tonight and was lucky it didn't cost his team.
It was only one game tonight since Jason Spezza went down to a serious knee injury, so lets see how this Sens team responds on the road against a NJ Devils team that seems to have the Sens number over the years. Expect another low scoring game like tonight.
Back in the next day or two with a story on Brian Lee. I am still waiting to hear from a few sources if I can go on record with some very juicy inside info.
'Til then, lets hope the Sens get a few healthy bodies back in the line-up very soon.
