The always flamboyant John Tortorella once again showed his theatrical flare last night in his post-game presser. The hot topic of the day was, of course, the fight between Marian Gaborik and Philadelphia's Dan Carcillo.
Here is the fight, which has created a lot of buzz around the internet, with some people suggesting Carcillo is a coward for going at it with the Rangers' top player, while others say Gaborik had it coming because he dropped the gloves first. My opinion is that it falls somewhere in between, as Carcillo stated he was “licking his chops” for an opportunity to go after Gaborik, and clearly he does take a swing at the Slovak sniper before gloves were dropped. It was an unnecessary fight, but at least Gaborik wasn't injured by an obviously tougher opponent. Nice to see Dan Girardi just standing there watching the whole thing go down rather than intervening on behalf of his teammate…
Oh well, it was a decisive loss for Gabby, which was to be expected. But while it was one-sided, at least Gaborik didn't come off looking like this:
