A win is a win is a win.

The Flames have points in four of their last five games now! (How's that for spinning the numbers?)
I would suggest 80% of this game against the Carolina Hurricanes went according to plans if you are the Flames management team. First the Flames completely outplayed the Hurricanes all night. And really looked like a better team than the Canes last night which is the first time the Flames have looked better than a Junior “B” team in a month.
In winning 4-1 Curtis Glencross notched his first career hat trick, and Matt Stajan scored a beauty on a nice give and go with Jarome Iginla. Eric Staal replied for Carolina and had a rough night, taking a stick in the mouth and a scary incident when Marc Giordano crushed Pitkanen into his own bench. In the process of trying to get out his skated clipped Eric Staal's check for Eric's second beauty mark of the game. Fortunately he was fine.
Ales Kotalik and Chris Higgins played their first game for the Flames and played on a line with Daymond Langkow. Kotalik showed one thing last night. He is not afraid to shoot the puck! That is a little unusual on this team, all in all a strong first night for Ales. Higgins did a fine job taking the body on the fore check and did a good job killing penalties when needed.
However all was not good with the Flames. They were short handed 9 times!!! and at least 5 of those penalties were lazy not moving your feet penalties. Brent Sutter I'm sure will be correcting that problem. Another problem was Jarome Iginla. He just is not playing like the Flames best player. Not even close, in fact I would take Hagman off of Jarome's line because Iginla is just taking space right now.
Have a good one!
