The Utah Jazz take on a short handed Los Angeles Lakers team in Salt Lake City.
Watching the Jazz the past few weeks has really been an awesome experience for me. When you love basketball as much as I do, you really appreciate it when you see a team playing really good basketball.
Nine wins in a row, thirteen wins in the past 14 games, yeah the Jazz are playing really well.
I've probably been the biggest Jazz supporter over the course of the season and I've constantly harped on their potential, it's always just been a matter of effort and intensity.
Now that we are finally seeing that effort and intensity I'm starting to worry.
Not the part of me that covers the Jazz. No, that part is as happy as can be. For someone who also covers the Lions, the biggest losers in the NFL, its nice to follow a team that actually wins most their games. This part of me is as happy as PacMan Jones making it rain at a downtown night club called Pinky Cheeks.
However, there's another part of me that's terrified, absolutely terrified to the core.
For those of you who don't already know, shame on you by the way, I am a hardcore Lakers fan, I mean super hardcore. I have Laker clothing for everyday of the week. For my past birthday I recieved a pair of shoes that to any normal human being would be considered uglier than Sarah Boyle, with three different color laces and just a goofy look to them. But, they are Laker colors, and they match my Kobe Jerseys.
In addition to watching every Jazz game I watch every Laker game with a hundred times the interest. I'm physically and emotionally invested in the Lakers. As a Laker fan, I'm spoiled. I know what its like for your favorite team to win a championship, heck I know what its like for your favorite team to win 3 straight.
I also know what it's like to lose a championship that you think you should have won, ala Pistons 2004, Celtics 2008. The Lakers should have won those Championships as well. But whatever.
Its a wonderful feeling knowing that your team is the shizzz. But, I'm scared. I still know the Lakers are the Shizz, but the Utah Jazz have me scared. At the beginning of the season I knew a couple teams would challenge the Lakers for the title, but ultimately they would still win.
Utah has me wondering if I should be so sure about that. Heck, I've already had 2010 Laker Champioship Hatrs made, should I have waited………
Most of you probably think I'm crazy. The Utah Jazz contend for a title! Mwahahahahahahahaha You are hilarious Danny.
Well people, I'm no Jerry Seinfeld and if you don't think the Jazz are a team to be reckoned with, tune in tonight when Utah takes on LA at Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City. This games in their town, on their court. Scary.
The Lakers are already playing without injured Center Andrew Bynum and could be playing without future Hall of Famer and the only man I would leave my wife for Kobe Bryant. LA managed to beat San Antonio without Bynum and Bryant, Utah is better than San Antonio.
Tonight will be Utah's opportunity to show the country and the rest of the NBA that they aren't playing, and they will slap your mama if they have to.
Yeah, as a Lakers fan, I'm scared to death of this team. I can only hope they are peaking too early and will crash and burn come Conference Championship time and fall to my beloved Lakers.
The Jazz blogger in me says “shut the hell up Laker fan and take it like Tila Tequila from Shawn Merriman!”
I guess you could say I'm getting a bit too worked up over one regular season game, and I would say you might be right.
Bottom line though, Utah is good, LA is good, and tonights game is gonna be great!!!!!
