Forward Blair Betts made the Flyers during training camp on a try-out basis. Since then he's been an important part of the team. He's contributed on the offensive and defensive sides of the ice. Betts has solidified a strong 4th line, as well as done his fair share of penalty killing. He's already missed 19 games this year to injury but appears healthy and ready to go for the rest of the year.
“I’m really happy with the new contract,”Betts said. “It was exactly what I was looking for. I was glad that the Flyers were willing to give me a couple years and show some commitment to me.”
Good teams need the intangibles to win, and Blair Betts is that type of player every team needs to be successful. A great job by the Flyers getting this done.
The NHL Trade Freeze begins today at 3pm EST, and the Flyers have been named here and there in rumors. Now nothing is imminent but teams are trying to pull the trigger before the Olympic break.
-The Flyers reportedly have had scouts at the last 4 Edmonton Oilers games
-Word is the LA Kings like Scott Hartnell
-Flyers are one of a number of teams asking about New York Islanders defensemen Andy Sutton
