Lubo the Katz meow in LA

On the same day that team owner Darryl Katz publicly criticised his team's performance this year and promised changes, Lubomir Visnovsky finally gave his boss something to cheer about.

The 10th Edmonton shooter, Lubo buried the biscuit, beating Kings' netminder Erik Ersberg on a beautiful backhand-forehand roof daddy snapshot to help the Oil snap an 11-game road losing streak with a 3-2 shoot-out victory over Los Angeles, before a sold-out Staples Centre.

Now that was a hockey game!

Intensity, unweiling speed, crushing Dustin Brown hits and spectacular goaltending at both ends of the rink – especially Jeff Deslauriers, who kicked out 41 shots in regulation! And the kid's got passion, charging out to take on Kings' D-man Drew Doughty in the third period, after the rookie fired a shot into the Edmonton net on the heels of the referee's whistle.

Denis Grebeshkov and Dustin Penner scored the other Edmonton goals, while Brown and former Oiler franchise player, Ryan Smyth, tallied for L.A.

The win allowed Edmonton to salvage something out of another horrendous road trip (1-4), before returning hoe to The Drug Store this Sunday for a Valentine's tilt against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Oilers will then enjoy a 14-game Olympic break.

Until then…keep your sticks on the ice!
