Watching the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver I caught a brief interview with Kings defenseman Jack Johnson who is attempting the ludicrous trek up for the night, then an immediate return to LA for a tilt with Colorado tomorrow.
Johnson stated he couldn't miss out on an opportunity like this and wanted to meet as many athletes from other sports as possible.
When asked who Johnson thought would be lighting the torch to cap the ceremonies, Johnson played the politician and guessed “since it's Canada” probably someone hockey related. When further provoked Johnson voiced the “safe bet”, former King Wayne Gretzky.
We'll see if Johnson is right and if JMFJ can bring the pain for the U.S. on Canadian soil ice.
