The Flames followed the formula again tonight. However unlike for most of the last month, the Flames did indeed manage to beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-1.
In the Calgary Flames final game before the Olympic break, the team put together another solid effort and was finally rewarded with a win over the visiting Ducks. Jarome Iginla led the charge scoring twice and really showed signs of being a dominant force just in time for the Olympics.
The biggest difference in this game as compared to the Flames recent losses is that Jonas Hiller just never looked comfortable in the net despite the fact he did play well. On the other side of the ice Miikka Kiprusoff was Miikka again tonight. A couple solid saves with the game in doubt and played another fine game tonight.
This was a big two points for the Flames and they will at least go into the break in a playoff spot and only sending three players to the Olympics the team should get a good rest and be ready for the final charge of 20 games.
Good Luck to Jarome Iginla, Nik Hagman, and Miikka Kiprusoff at the Olympics! Enjoy this tournament hockey fans. We should be in for a treat as we have three countries that could be conisdered favorites for gold with Russia, Canada, and Sweden. However there are another four teams that could easily go on a run and upset everyone in the USA, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia. And don't be suprised if the Swiss knock someone off and destroy a favorites chances at a medal.
Finally congratulations to Jennifer Heil for her silver medal in the women's moguls!
Have a good one!
