“The Wall” continues to come tumbling down for the Edmonton Oilers.
Their on-ice problems well documented this season, the Oilers seemingly now also have some off-ice issues to concern themselves with.
Oilers netminder Nikolai “The Bulin Wall” Khabibulin is facing charges of Driving Under the Influence and speeding, after police arrested the NHL goalie Feb. 8 in Scottsdale, AZ. Khabibulin was pulled over driving a black Ferrari to speeds in-excess of 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
In Ferrari terms, that translates to first gear.
Khabibulin had season-ending surgery last month to repair a herniated disc in his back, after signing a four-year contract with the copper and blue prior to the commencement of the 2009-10 regular season campaign.
As if Edmonton GM Steve Tambellini doesn't have enough on his plate already, his club in last place in the NHL with the league's trade deadline fast approaching.
The guy's back is against The Wall, so to speak, and now this!
