Last night in Vancouver an upset of monumental meaning happened. The Slovakian Olympic Hockey Team, defeated the favoured Russian team 2-1 in a shoot out. Many figured after the pounding The Canadian women's team gave the Slovak's that the great 8 and his squad of Russian All-Stars would have no problem taking care of them. Not to be, on this night Ovechkin did not get any points(in regulation play).
Halak was brilliant making 33 saves against some of Russia's top stars. Morosov(Russia) and Hossa(Slovak) were the only 2 goals during the regular game and after 14 shooters in the shoot out Demitra finally got the game winner on Russian goaltender Bryzgalov.
What does this now mean? The Russians lost to a foe they were probably not suppose to win but its been done now the Russians must look ahead and the Slovak team must not loose focus. Slovakia has Latvia next while Russia has Czech Republic.
It should be an interesting finish to this tournament.
