Fish needs to get flushed

Derek Fisher has been the starting point guard for the Lakers since leaving the Utah Jazz in the offseason of 2007 and year after year his performance continues to get worse and worse.

Fisher is 36, in his 13th year in the league and it is clear that his biological clock is ticking at rapid speeds.

This year he averages a dismissal 7.4 ppg, 2.5 assists and shoots a horrible 38% from the floor, all as a starter. Jordan Farmar has 7.5 ppg and Shannon Brown has 8.4 ppg, serving as the second and third-string point guards and have higher scoring averages with receiving less playing time.

Why did Phil Jackson let Fisher take the last shot to win the game against Boston last Thursday?

At this point, the Lakers are better off subbing in DJ Mbenga and letting him take that last shot instead of Fisher. That’s how consistently bad Fisher has sadly become.

Some of the Derek Fisher hopefuls have said the most uneducated things like, “Fisher is clutch in the playoffs.”

Oh yes, Derek Fisher did hit that phenomenal buzzer beater with 0.4 seconds left on the clock in game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

That was 6 YEARS AGO!

Why do the fans have to wait 82 games to see Derek Fisher finally start playing some real basketball?

I don’t care if Derek Fisher has four rings.

I don’t care if he’s spent most of his career with the Lakers.

I don’t care if he is the NBA’s Mother Teresa aka the president of the NBA Players Association.

As Janet Jackson said in her 1986 hit song, “What have you done for me lately?”

He can’t defend against quick point guards. Deron Williams, Aaron Brooks, as well as Chauncey Billups gave Fisher the most problems in the 2009 road to the championship and we still won, thank God.

Derek Fisher’s contract expires at the end of this year. If the Lakers want to continue getting rings they need to convince him to retire and buy a ranch in Arkansas and go live happily ever after off his NBA salary with his family.
