Celtics All Over the Bobcats

For the first time all season, the Celtics had their full roster healthy. It’s hard to believe, but what a difference it made in tonight’s game. The Celtics hosted the Charlotte Bobcats at home.  After getting smoked in the second half against the Cavaliers last week and then embarrassed by the lowly Nets, the Celtics were at an all time low for the season. They bounced back on the road in Detroit Tuesday night and were looking to make it two in a row tonight. The Celtics were ready and annihilated the Bobcats 104-80.

Paul Pierce looked like Paul Pierce. Pierce was out last week with a sore thumb and the flu and this is the first game he looked 100% healthy in a very long time. Pierce was incredible and carried the team on his back. He hit from every where on the court and lit up anybody that tried to guard him. Pierce led the team with 27 points. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. Boston needs him to lead this team to the promised land and Pierce can more than handle the pressure.

Nate Robinson has provided a huge spark off the bench for the past two games. Robinson has the ability to create his own shot, something House could never do. Coach Rivers even put in a couple of Knick plays to get Robinson more involved in the offense and it’s paying off. Robinson finished with 16 points tonight, including 4 three pointers. He’s also creating offense for his teammates. His quickness to the hoop forces double teams and he’s finding the open man. Plus, he brings energy to this team, something that was lacking for a while.

The Celtics held a 17 point lead in the second quarter, but then allowed the Bobcats to cut the lead to only one point. Boston didn’t panic though. The game plan at the end of the first half was to let the Captain take the shot, and Pierce delivered. Boston held a 9 point lead going into the half. The game was won in the 3rd. Celtics played their best team defense that I’ve seen in a very long time. Kevin Garnett would finish with 4 blocks as he’s starting to find his legs again. Ray Allen was also great on the defensive end as he completely shut down  Stephen Jackson.  At the end of the 3rd quarter, Celtics 82 Bobcats 61.

It’s been a long time since the Celtics had a game like this. There was a time when the Celtics were the best team in the NBA. I think they can get back there. They have struggled as of late and the biggest factor has been health and now they have their full roster finally. Hard to build chemistry on the court when there are different guys going down with injuries. This win is something they can build on. Friday night they travel to Philadelphia and then they host the Wizards Sunday night.
