Plan The Parade Broadway!!

Posted By Dan Rakusan On Mar 4 2010 @ 1:05 am In New York Rangers | 2 Comments

This is more of a facetious post than anything else, but here’s what the Rangers did:  We got Kris Newbury.  Yay!  Quite frankly, with the discussion and speculation involving the Rags today, you would have expected more than a minor-league move, but realistically, this is likely the smartest thing for our beloved Blueshirts to have done – nothing.

I’m looking at the rumours from earlier, including divesting ourselves of Wade Redden’s albatross contract, and thinking “it was all a pipe-dream”…  And yes, that’s the case when waking minds think of it.  But, Edmonton seemed willing to send us Souray for our own “disabled” – read: retarded – mistake.  It just didn’t happen.  That talk of Tom Gilbert (from Scott Pattison, who was one of our guests on the PSB radio show today) seemed interesting, but really, do we need another under-achieving puck-moving defenceman?  I don’t think so.

What we need is a guy like Volchenkov or Zbynek Michalek.  Steve Staios would have been an acceptable stop-gap, but that wasn’t in the cards either.

I’ll be back tomorrow, likely, with a follow up.  I might wait another day to see how the team performs, or at least for an update on Gaborik’s status…

In conclusion, check out the radio show, which is streamable or available for download.  You will be astonished as to how strong many of our bloggers are, as well as to how well connected this website is with people who are actually tied into the NHL.  If ever there were doubts, this re-launch has quelled them!

Na Zdravi,

DR
