The Odds and Ends of the Eddie Jordan Saga

The question isn’t whether Eddie Jordan will be fired. The question is when. And believe me, the timing of his foreshadowed firing is very important.
Firing Jordan now will force the Sixers to name an interim coach, as they did last season with assistant Tony DiLeo. And with only 18 games left in a season heading nowhere, the duties of said interim coach wouldn’t be difficult at all. Most likely, it would be one of the assistants that plan on staying with the team after the Eddie Jordan regime leaves town.
He’ll be instructed to play the young guys and help evaluate that talent pool in early preparation for the NBA Draft (potential needs) and next season. Seems like a reasonable and beneficial step for the 76ers, no?
Though, that would take playing time away from the Elton Brand’s and Andre Iguodala’s. Something front office brass frown upon, ” all that money sitting on the bench.” Well, they’d have to get over it, nobodies paying to see them anyway. And playing the young guys could add something the Sixers have had little of all season long, excitement.
Perhaps Jordan has earned the right to stay on the entire season. He’s refused, even to the day, to play the young guys. He’s trying to win games by putting the best possible team on the court. Jordan through all his short comings and blind-faith has stayed loyal to himself and has certainly held onto his pride throughout all of this. For that he’s to be commended. Take away the bad record, the underachieving play, and utter disappointment of this season, and Eddie Jordan has been the definition of professional.
Another argument is has Eddie Jordan’s pride and his refusal to wave the white flag earned him the right to be put out of his misery?
Either way it’s going to happen, Eddie Jordan will be fired. Also, the lack of a decision quickly could mean Ed Stefanski will suffer the same fate. The wheels are turning at Comcast-Spectacor, and now puppet master Ed Snider is sniffing around (yes he isn’t just the Flyers Chairman.) Which usually means, especially when he’s seen talking about the Sixers, heads will roll and soon.
