If you were to ask me three months ago if the Hurricanes could even compete with the Pittsburgh Penguins or Washington Capitals I would have offered a very emphatic “NO!” and then probably punched you in the teeth for mocking the Canes struggles this season.
So facing both of those teams in a row, without Cam Ward in net, it’s pretty much game over, right?
Not so fast guys, these aren’t the same Hurricanes. After taking the Caps to OT in an exciting match-up, the Hurricanes went one step further and beat the Penguins in probably the most intense game Hurricanes fans have seen all year.
Justin Peters was absolutely fantastic. Yes , he fought the puck all game long and looked extremely shaky, but he came up with the big saves and that’s the important part.
Result, 3 out of 4 points where there just as easily could be none, and the Hurricanes move to 9-1-1 in their last 11 games.
It’s going to be a very very interesting next couple of weeks Canes fans… do you believe?
