Thirteen games left, ten points back. Barring a complete collapse by the Boston Bruins, the Carolina Hurricanes are toast.
Now that’s not to say that they didn’t put in an effort, as this team has been playing with tremendous confidence and were winning games at an absolutely staggering pace. Unfortunately even a 9-1-1 run wasn’t enough to make up ANY ground on the 8th seed and the Hurricanes late season charge appears to be all for naught.
Having said that, don’t expect to see this team give up. They aren’t out of it until they have been mathematically eliminated, and they aren’t even close to that point yet.
We’ve seen miracles before, but don’t blame Canes fans if we have a hard time seeing one possible without Cam Ward between the pipes.
Here’s to the draft and next season Caniacs… this one’s done.
