The young guys just keep bringing the heat and the Carolina Hurricanes just keep winning.
a 3-2 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Penguins has now brought the Canes to 6 points out of a playoff spot with only 11 games remaining. Jamie McBain(4 pts) Scored in OT and had a helper to lead the Canes over the Pens. Other goals scored by Joni Pitkanen(44 pts) and Zac Boychuk(8 pts).
The win came at a price, however, with Manny Legace going down after being crashed into by Tyler Kennedy. Legace was replaced by Justin Peters early in the second period. Should Legace’s injury be serious enough to warrant missing a couple games, expect to see two-time OHL Goaltender of the Year Mike Murphy called up from Albany.
Murphy is currently 10-9-0 with a 2.81 GAA and .917 save percentage in his first year in the AHL.
With only 11 games left in the season, is it possible that the Hurricanes can make the postseason?
Tampa Bay (2)
Carolina will likely need to win at least 8 of these game to make it… specifically against Boston, Tampa, Ottawa and Montreal.
So Tell me Caniacs… do you believe in miracles?
