I have 2 explanations for why I’m not going to rip the Habs for their pathetic performance last night against the Ottawa Senators.
#1 – I didn’t see the game.
#2 – I am incredibly optimistic for Wednesday’s game vs. Buffalo to the point that I’m going on record and saying…
I GUARANTEE THAT THE MONTREAL CANADIENS WIN!
How could I possibly be so certain, given that the Canadiens have lost their last 2 games and now they are facing an elite eastern conference team?
- The reinforcements are coming! According to Pat Hickey, Cammalleri and Bergeron will make their return to the lineup. Both will provide a spark, especially on the power play. With guys coming back, the 3rd and 4th line players who might be too comfortable will now be challenged for roster spots and will force those role players to push themselves even more.
- Carey Price will be in net and will be more motivated than ever. After 2 losses in a row, and with a back to back coming up, it only makes sense that Price will start one of the next 2, and I have a feeling it will be on the road rather than at home with the aggressively hostile Montreal fans. This is his last chance to make a good impression, and I expect him to deliver.
- Andrei Kostitsyn is in that mode where he is getting many chances and is not capitalizing, but everyone knows he is so close to breaking out. Wednesday will be his game, especially with his old line back intact. Andrei Kostitsyn leads the league in goals at even strength on Wednesday nights on the road against a division opponent. Ok, I completely made that up, but stats are so ridiculous nowadays that I’ll bet at least a few readers believed that was a real stat.
Montreal simply can’t afford to lose 3 in a row. There are now 9 games left and there is no more time for small victories. They need to win games, and that’s all that matters. Not to worry Habs fans; they’ll get it done Wednesday night. You heard it here first.
GO HABS GO!
**please note that IF Montreal happens to lose on Wednesday; there’s a chance there will be a malfunction at ProSportsBlogging that will lead to this blog disappearing. My apologies if that happens, it would just be a strange coincidence. **
