In The Mix

Sorry for the late reply but its time to catch up on the Red Wings!
Wednesday night the Wings faced a great division foe in St. Louis wining the game 4-2, Then on Friday taking Minnesota down 6-2, and finally on Saturday after 11 shooters in a shoot out win over Nashville, Detroit all of a sudden finds themselves in a healthy playoff position. sitting now at 91 points, 1 point behind division rival Nashville for the 5th spot . Detroit has won there last 5, although there is only 3 points parting the bottom 4 teams in the west playoff race Detroit finds themselves in a healthy spot since Calgary has been loosing a fair bit of games, they are 6 points from detroit and 4 out of a playoff spot. The only thing these Red Wings are not used to is being at the lower end and unless Chicago goes on a major skid in the last few games Detroit will find themselves without home ice advantage for the first time in years, but as always our Wings will pull through.
In other Wings news it was announced that the Versus telecast of the Detroit vs Pittsburgh game was the highest watched game in the networks history with 760,000 viewers at the peak of the telecast the highest rating since 2004.
Also after the NHL took a vote on the blind-side hit issue, many of the Detroit Red Wings agreed with the rule change and welcome it. I know this is a very touchy issue but I would like to know all your takes on it.
With every passing day and game Jimmy Howard is looking more and more like an All-Star goalie, as a franchise goalie he is close to both records for most consecutive starts by a net-minder, both the longest start streak and the most starts by a rookie, this will also open the eyes of the debate on who should win the Calder this year, my vote is for Howard.
The Wings have 7 games left most against divisional foe’s and now that Columbus is eliminated it still is must wins but an easier schedule as Edmonton is next on Tuesday, and after that they have an important game against Nashville and Philadelphia, and the last game of the season could also be very important against Chicago depending how they do until then, also 3 games against Columbus in that mix, although they are eliminated count on them to put up a fight and play spoiler.
Thanks for reading everyone!
