Go Hard or Go Home

So the Lakers just lost another game on the road to the Atlanta Hawks tonight, 109-92. For the first time in a long time, I got really upset. This is the worst basketball I’ve seen from the Lakers this season and it couldn’t be happening at a worse time.
The Lakers have gone 2-3 on their five-game road trip and all of the three games they lost shouldn’t have happened, not at this stage in the season.
First they lost to a young, talented Oklahoma City team with stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The passion that Thunder team has is far more intense then the Lakers show and that energy led them to a W.
Then the Lakers lose to the New Orleans Hornets, a non-contender for the playoffs, which is just embarrassing. In that game the Lakers tried, they really did and still didn’t win. And for the first time this season I actually got worried, like what’s really good?
The chemistry between the team is clearly not there and the question is: why?
Derek Fisher’s game has dropped tremendously this year as the starting point guard. The old age is catching up to him as these young and fresh point guards in the league are making him look like grandpa.
Andrew Bynum being out is definitely hurting the squad because Odom just cannot perform as well as a starter compared to coming off the bench. Then in turn, the bench isn’t as effective because Odom is not there to jump-start them.
End of the day, Lakers just aren’t making shots…except for Kobe. Statistics show when Kobe scores outrageous numbers they don’t win as much, therefore everyone else needs to step up.
Also, the Lakers track record on the road has been well below-par. 16-21 on the road is unacceptable for the former Champs. Winning critical road games come playoff team is vital to winning another Championship.
Two weeks before the playoffs and the Lakers are looking like a bunch of softies.
It’s the last stretch before things become serious and you just have to come harder than that.
These last couple weeks are crucial for the Lakers to set a tone going into the post-season to show everyone they are ready and mean business.
As a Lakers fan, yes you have to be the eternal optimist and look at the bright side no matter what the outcome but sometimes you just have to tell it how it is no matter how much it hurts.
Right now the Lakers are vulnerable, very vulnerable.
